Party Madness!

Im starting to plan AT's party! It seems to all be coming together decently. I have a few ideas that Im searching around for. I mentioned before we are doing a sailboat theme. Only sailboats. No anchors, mast, life rafts....or any of that JUST sailboats! Its hard to get people to understand that. Anyway we are planning to have 2 bday finctions, and not bc we are party whores I promise.

We will be traveling over AT's acutal birthday. We will be in Hilton Head Island, SC with Tims family for the week. So why not have a little celebration while we are there. Besides they dont get to see AT nearly as much as my family so Im glad we get to have a celebration that involves them. Its even better that they will be with us on his actual birthday. I am so excited about that!

So the second slightly larger party will be at our house later in Sept. So you see....Ill be doing much of this twice.

So here goes

Cake:
Well I think Im going to make it. I practiced a little while we were in OH. Here is what I came up with. Yeah its not the prettiest right there, but at least I got the cut right, now I have to figure out the design. I also need frosting tips etc. Im going to try again this weekend as well as make a mini cake like this for AT to smash....Whew! Ill be making this cake several times bf its all said and done. Tim better like cake! ;)

Activities/Decorations:
So while Im busy with all that cake I plan to try and make it the centerpiece for the party. Along with ballons and banners. I dont think Im doing any faors for his party...I mean its a One Year Old bday party.....there wont be that many kids there. Whats the point you know? So I think I am planning to play a game with the adults thats all about AT. Make up a "Guess When" sheet. Asking questions about AT;
  • like how much did he weigh at birth?
  • who was his Doctor?
  • What was his first word?

You get the picture. Whoever gets the most answers right Ill have a party prize. Just something to get everyone involved on some level youknow?

I also plan on making a photo book of pictures from AT's first year and leaving a few empty pages in the back to have friends and family sign and leave special messages for him. I need to really get cracking on that! There are a ton of pictures to go through for one year ;) I just need to make up my mind which ones I want to use.

For the kids I think bubbles will be in order....there will prob be about 5 babies there from 18m to 12m so I think bubbles and a few other outside activites are a safe bet. Ill prob let them help AT open his gifts too. That way they can all have something to do ...he wont mind ;)

Since Im also making AT a small smash cake I might as well use the rest of the batter for cupcakes. I found this adoarble idea to decorate them. Im certain I can make them with scrapbook paper that matches the colors of all shades of blue and whiteand popsicle sticks. Now I just need to figure out what to use for the boat part on the cupcake....any ideas???

I really wanted a banner at both of the parties....yes for pictures sake. So Im having 2 of them. A smaller one that will match the invites, and will be placed over the mantle where the gifts will go. The second banner will be hung in the kitchen near the food. I dont have pictueres of either of them yet. They are still a work in progress. But for now a sample picture is here so you can get the idea. I want this same larger banner for the kitchen. Its from Etsy Seller Sevencupcakes...she deos awesome work! I cant wait to get the final product!

Invite:
Here is a draft of the invite so far. I only have one tweak and its to make the boat just a tad bigger. I really want to focus on the boat for the invite and then the pics. So once those small changes are made it will be perfect!

Outfit:
Yeah I know....boys usually dont have a special outfit for their birthdays....or maybe they do and I just didnt knw aobut it. But I couldnt help it! I saw this on Etsy too and just had to go for it. Of course this photo shows it in red but I had it made with the blue pattern instead. I posted a pic of the fabric samples that she used. The shirt cmae out great but Tim doesnt like the pants....I admit they are a little long but they are adorable. We will see.

Thats all I have for now but I would say its enough. Ive got a lot of baking to do int he next few months but Im excited about it all!

Weight/Challenge Update:
I havent weighed at all this week. I measured this morning and Im down an inch but I also went up an inch last month so I guess it equals out. Even though you dont lose you can still gain inches....and really I would rather weigh more but measure less. So I plan to pick back up and weigh on Tuesday my normal day.

I have noticed that I was bloated BIG time on and after I came home from vacay and I KNOW it was the alcohol. I was a little to free with it. I need to go back to only drinking wine. I used to be so good at that. I think that will be my next challenge for our upcoming vacations. I cant forget that!

As for working out, I have only missed one day this week and that was bc AT was up sick. He had a doc appt this morning around 9 so I was able to sleep in and still get the workout in....big plus. But I swear when I sleep till normal 6am I feel like I cant get motivated...I cant wrap my mind around why but if Im up at 5:15 I guess I know its for a reason and I do so much better at getting up. Maybe my brain is telling me something ;)So far Ive been switching up Jillian and the treadmill. On the day I missed my AM workout AT and I took a 2mile walk after diner. The one day that wasnt so hot.

As for the cafeteria challenge. I am doing AWESOME with this! The only thing I have went back on though is a still eat a little more than what I bring.....but wait bf you frown at me let me explain. ephyscians here have their own lounge, they get hot lunch every day. They always get a meat, veggie and starch..and dessert. So to tell the truth I have eaten more than I bring in BUT I have added brocolli, green beans, or mushrooms to my lunch. I DID NOT touch the dessert, or make a salad that I didnt need. So there...maybe I didnt stick to my little lean cusine but honestly Im still a little hungry so I added the veggie instead. I think that is pretty good will power than I normally have. Hey I could have went for the choc cake today and no one would have looked twice. So kick me if you want....but I still feel like Im adhereing to my challenge while adding in a nutritional addition instead of iceberg lettuce which we all know has no nutritional value at all. I still get that sweet pang but I save it for after dinner FF fudge pops. Instead of having a big calorie dessert at lunch and the FF after dinner. I was helping no one with that one.

So it remains to be seen if this is going to make an impact but Im pretty sure it will. I really want a few more lbs gone bf we head to the beach in a few weeks.

Tonight and the next fews night we are eating out or having a function where we wont have many healthy choices. That will be challenging but I will do my best. Our neighborhood is having a block party on Sat night so Im hoping I can just get away with a turkey burger and save my cals for a glass of Sangria. No Margaritas....just wine! Ill let you now! Have a great weekend everyone...my domestics start at 6am!

All of that looks awesome! I'm sure Andrew will have a fabulous party(s).

I don't have any suggestions for the cupcake boats, but instead of Popsicle sticks you could use lollipop sticks for that sail mast. You can buy them in any craft store and it might make it easier to thread since hole punches are already round.

For the boat part - if you want it edible how about Tootsie Rolls? It would be brown like a wooden sailboat?

Love all the ideas - my only suggestion just from my own 'I can make this instead of buying it mindset' is start now. I spent a lot of time leading up to the party doing last minute decor stuff and I would have much rather been DONE with it by then
