Im burnt out of being and feeling rushed. I feel so suffocated in the evenings trying to get workouts in that I know its why I dont get to put 100% effort into them....or I just cut them short.
I work 32hrs a week, 7:30AM to 4PM. Im usually in bed by 9/10 and up again at 6. How in the world does that make any diff you ask? Well it does when you are trying to keep a house, feed a baby (on his schedule not yours), feed a husband (who wants to eat as soon as he walks in the door..he helps I promise...but there is still the pressure), workout, get baths, and ready for the next day. I feel suffocated! Not to mention I feel VERY guilty if I dont workout.
It used to be so easy when AT was little. He would play on his play mat, or have tummy time, all while I was able to run on the treadmill, or do a Jilliam video. Not anymore! He started taking steps over our vacation and it was like the house was set on fire when we came home last night. He was into EVERYTHING! He even crawled ONTO the dishwasher! Maybe it was new surroundings or something but Im starting to believe my MIL home is more baby proofed than mine! It was crazy and very eye opening to say the least.
I just dont know how Im going to get workouts in while he is home with us in the evenings unless he is straped to the stroller but its too hot out to do that every night! So on the 7hr ride home yesterday I got into a SELF magazine. Its a pretty good magazine to help motivate you and give you little flash cards of workout moves you can do on your own. I was motivated by it. I guess bc I know I did so badly on my vacation. Ill get to that soon enough :/ So I made a decision that if its going to be done it jsut has to be done first thing in the morning when they are both sleeping. No kidding Ive said this all bf and I know it but if I never try it how will I know! So I made the decision that Ill put forth that effort of 30 extra minutes in the AM. Getting up at 5:30 instead of 6 and getting in some cardio and some strength training. I know it wont be long stints of exercise but maybe when I get home in the evenings I can finish it up by getting in 10 to 15 more minutes on a video or treadmill. I have heard time and time again that getting in your time is the most important thing....whether it be 30 mins all together or 10 minutes at a time 3 times a day. (I plan to do more....just an example)
So I did it! I was up this morning at 5:30. I laid out clothes for both AT and I so I was able to grab them in a hurry. I was on the treadmill by 5:45 (a girls got to wake up!), and then set the oven timer to do another 10min of strength moves. I was a few minutes late to getting us to work on time but you know what it was my first day...and once I get in the routine Im sure it will come together.
I only walked this morning at 4mph, I wasnt sure how my body would handle with no food that early in the AM so I took it slow. Tomorrow I plan to try and get intervals in and see how I do. I didnt want to push it the first day.
Its a big deal for me! You may say big deal you got up early....but when you have worked out a diff time of day for so long it is a big change. I think the thing I liked about it the most was that it was quiet......I had time to think and really reflect on "ME". That will make you more in tune to focus on the workout and how you are progressing and not get so distracted. So all in all I liked it! I need to get more of a game plan together so it falls into place....bc I dont have much time so I want to work on that peice to utilize all the time I have.
Having 25 min under my belt already today makes me feel good about myself. Its not where I want to be my any means but when you work full time away from home and try to get everything else done in between 25m is better than nothing. So I carry on from here. Ill keep you updated on how the next few mornings go and if I will ever get used to it. My pedometer is fixed too so Im proud to say its at almost 5K steps and Im not done yet!
As for vacay.....I only gained 1lb. I was sure it was more than that but the moderate walking I did every morning must have helped. MIL wanted to walk with me and I had to keep pace with her. I could have done much more but it just didnt work. I enjoyed the booze a little too much. And although I only gianed a lb I can def tell that areas of my toned body are not so toned anymore.....my legs are touching a little too much. So see its not all about the lbs.....the measurements this month wont be pretty.
Im carrying on! I still tell myself all the time "Im not where I once was....but I feel even better about where Im headed!" There is something to that!

Good for you for getting up early! I used to get up SUPER early to work out at my work gym before my day started at 8:15... and of course now I still work out in the AM. I love it! I love having my workouts done before my day gets started. It's so easy to cancel a workout session in the afternoons/evenings because other things come up, but not much comes up before 7 am! ;) Be warned that the first couple of weeks can be really hard to adjust to, but once you get used to it, you'll probably love it!
Good Luck! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed with your day, working so much, then coming home and working it feels like you NEVER get a break. Hang in there! I hope the early mornings work for you - maybe you can give me some motivation!!!
Good job on getting up early! I LOVE getting my workouts in during the AM so they are out of the way. And yay for only gaining 1 lb while on vacay! (I did the same). It's a big deal!
