Time for some Color!

Im itching to start a few projects inside bf the weather gets too nice to be inside. Lets face it come warmer weather you'll find me on my boat!

In the new house we have NO storage space. Very little to speak of. What Im using for storage will one day be AT's closet so I really need to downsize or find more room. So we have toyed with the idea for months how to do this. So we decided that we could make a little room underneath the basement steps. Something out of the way and Tim could still make it look attractive.

So we took the door off our master closet bc it was just akward and cut it in half. Tim picked up the trim etc from Lowes, and we already had the hardware (hinges etc.), as well as the paint. So all in all the project cost less than $60. So here is the final product. Looks like it was always meant to be there right? Im really glad it turned out so well.

Next up was another area that wa crying out for help! I just had no idea what to do with this space. I searched online, asked on message boards and it just didnt come to me still recently. I WISH I had an after pic but I dont. I promise to take one soon. It turned out so cute.

I took a small topiary I had upstairs and put in the far corner to give height as you go down the stairs, then I had 2 10x12 pictures that I leaned against the wall. I took a pottery pitcher and filled it with silk hydreangas, and filled the bircage with candles of different heights. Its more of a cottage theme but I really like how it turned out - I promise pics to come!

That brings me to this weekends projects. & where we got the idea to cut the room out below the steps in our basement. We have a half bath under the steps on the main floor. & since its the smallest room in the house I felt like it could be my first painting project. I nearly painted the whole house when we lived at 575 so I can do it again! Im just a little intimidated by the high ceilings and not screwing them up!

As you can see its pretty plain jane. The walls are beige and the trim is dark wood. I was dreaming of a blue/white bathroom accented by birds but I just couldnt find the right accessories and lately Im all about using what I already have to spruce up things. So the only thing new to this room will be a wall hanging, and a fresh coat of paint. The rest will come from other rooms. But its so small there isnt much space to really fill.

The red accessories are from the old house and Im so over it. Im thinking of painting that little table but not 100% on that yet. I may not even keep it there. So for now Im going with mellow/neutral colors, Ive picked Valspars "Seaside Villa". Its a mix of blue/gray. Im hoping to brighten the space more than anything since its under the stairs and so dark because its small and has dark flooring.

So wish me luck that a certain toddler wont want to help ;) I really hope to have it done by Sunday. Its small enough I should succeed! Have a wonderful weekend....and I hope to have "after" pics very soon!
